Security Cameras - Latest Technology Simplified

Today's Security Camera Systems come in two basic types:

• Analog - HDTVI
• Digital - IP

Analog - HDTVI - High-definition digital cameras transmit an HD analog signal over wire to a DVR - Digital Video Recorde, which records all cameras and provides remote access. These cameras provide extremely high resolution images, color and black&white for periods of low light or complete darkness. Analog cameras and DVRs are generally less expensive, but cabling can cost slightly more. The video signal is typically carried over coax, and power supplied over a twisted pair. Network wire (Cat5) can also be used. The result is generally a more economical system. DVRs can be remote-accessed over the Internet.

Digital/IP - IP (Internet Protocol) Cameras convert their HD images to digital signals that are carried over networks. Wiring is conventional network wiring (Cat5 or Cat6), and power is provided using the PoE (Power over Ethernet) system. IP Cameras are somewhat more expensive, but installation can often be faster with some cost savings in labor. IP Cameras feed an NVR (Network Video Recorder), which records all cameras and provides remote access via the Internet.

In many cases, the Analog and IP technologies can be used together in the same systems by using a Tri-mode NVR. This can save money when upgrades are required because new cameras can be IP-based, while all existing Analog cameras can still work.

Cameras in both groups are available with up to 4K resolution, fixed wide angle lenses, zoom lenses, and remote Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) capabiliy. We also provide low-light and zero-light models, as well as completely hidden covert cameras.
